Golf tournament will help hospice
State Farm insurance agents and the Silverthorn Golf Association have teamed up to host the 10th annual Cancer Awareness Charity Golf Tournament on April 5 at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane. It will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Golfers are needed for the event, which will benefit the Hernando-Pasco Hospice. The cost is $80 per golfer, which includes golf, lunch and the opportunity to win prizes. Those wishing to attend lunch only pay $35. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. at the Silverthorn Clubhouse. Both options include a $20 tax deductible donation to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice. The 2006 event raised nearly $16,500 for the hospice.

History commission to meet Wednesday
The Hernando County Historical Advisory Commission will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Brooksville Train Depot Museum at S Brooksville Avenue and Russel Street.
The meeting's agenda will be "Hernando County and its Pioneer Families." Those attending are encouraged to bring any old family documents (Bibles, deeds, photographs, etc.) pertaining to Hernando County prior to October 1887.
The Historical Advisory Commission was appointed by the Hernando County Commission to promote public interest in the county's history and to preserve and document its history. Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month.

Concert planned for song and dance group
Brookridge Entertainment will present a concert with 4:2:Five at 7 p.m. April 12 at the Brookridge Clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The group uses no tracks or instruments and features five male vocalists performing song and dance.

Driver safety classes will be offered in April
The AARP will conduct its Driver Safety Program classes at these locations in April:

The course, open to anyone 50 and older, costs $10.
Upon completion, participants will receive certificates to submit to their insurance companies for possible rate reductions.

Scouts will wash cars to benefit camp fund
Boy Scout Troop 433 will have a car wash from 8 a.m. to noon March 24 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2301 Deltona Blvd.
The fee will be a donation, which will benefit the Scouts' summer camp fund.
