PIAZZA SAN PIETRO, ROME, JUNE 2006 This was right outside the Vatican in Rome. My father and I were on a two-week trip through Italy. It was a graduation trip. We went to Florence, to Pompeii, to Venice, to Naples, all over. Rome was our home base. My father, Hans, is an architect. We both saw the phone booth and thought it really was modern and eye-catching against the old Roman architecture, a really interesting contrast in the middle of the city, right outside the Vatican walls. I have this nifty little tripod and a self-timer, so I took this self-portrait. When I look at the photo, it makes me think of how much fun I had being in another country. I always see the contrasts - the old architecture and the brand-new, modern, clear glass. Lots of glass. How to submit your photo:
