BROOKSVILLE On Monday, the lawyer for Brooksville human resources director Ron Baker met with Steve Baumgartner, the acting city manager, but there was no official word on Baker's future with the city. Down the hall, however, Baker's office was being cleaned out, and his books and pictures were being packed into moving boxes. Last week, an internal investigation found that Baker had been "incompetent and inefficient" in his duties. The report also accused him of harassing a City Hall secretary, who he said was having an affair with police Chief Ed Tincher. Baker was placed on unpaid leave and the table was set for his termination, unless he decided to appeal the decision. Resignation is another option. Baker could not be reached for comment on Monday.
