Do you know what the kids are doing yet?

Published March 20, 2007

It's not too early to think about activities for the kids this summer. Registration for children's summer camp at the new city recreation and aquatics complex is under way. The camp for children ages 6 to 12 runs from June 4 to July 27. Registration is also open to nonresidents. The $14.1-million complex officially opens on May 19 with a celebration that will include tours of the facility, trial classes and free food. Spaces for camp are limited. For information, call the recreation center at (727) 841-4560.

Well, that wasn't very funny at all

A laughing man in a green pickup drove to a family's property Sunday, stepped out and opened fire on their bird before speeding away, witnesses told authorities. Kimberley Kinney told Pasco sheriff's deputies she heard a gunshot from inside her house at 40455 Otis Allen Road about 7:30 p.m. When she walked outside, one of her guinea fowl, valued at $30, was dead in the driveway. Kinney's husband and son, who were outside fixing a gate, saw the shooter pull up in a truck and climb out with a long-barrelled gun. He fired the gun at the ground, and when Richard Kinney looked up, the man was laughing, according to a report. He followed the truck as it sped off but lost sight of it. No arrests have been made.
