The Journey to Becoming a Superwoman: This spoken-word and poetry performance depicts the story of Nafeesa Monroe, a girl of mixed ethnicity who felt she never belonged. Her tale is one of sexual abuse, a stay in a mental hospital and realization that she is superwoman. 6 p.m., USF Tampa campus, Davis Hall, Room 130, 4202 E Fowler Ave.

The Haunted: Sweden's favorite thrash metal band plays the State Theatre with Dark Tranquility, Into Eternity and Scar Symmetry. Doors open at 7 p.m. State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $16-$18.

Iraq In Fragments, 7 p.m., Cinemax: This Oscar-nominated documentary examines the political controversies afflicting the war-torn country through three personal stories. The film was shot in cinema verite style with no scripted narration.

American Idol, 8 p.m. WTVT-Ch. 13: The final 11 perform in a two-show, and their guiding lights are Brit icons Lulu and Peter Noone. If anyone sings I'm Henry the VIII I Am, the show should do the right thing and automatically kick that person out.
