Grant visits, but not for Bulls
Coach is coming to town but not to talk about USF opening.

TAMPA - Virginia Commonwealth coach Anthony Grant, once rumored as a top prospect for the vacant job at South Florida, is coming to town today, but apparently not to talk with the Bulls. "He's not here for that," said Lakewood coach Dan Wright, who expects Grant on campus today to visit with senior guard Ed Nixon and his family. The former Florida assistant's first recruiting class at VCU already has four signees from state high schools: Orlando, Fort Myers, Gainesville and Port St. Lucie. Grant's success at VCU and background under Gators coach Billy Donovan made him a popular choice as a potential USF candidate, but there has been little sign of interest from either side since Robert McCullum was fired March 9. VCU upset Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last week before losing to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Why, if we are interested in improving the basketball program at USF are we not interested in someone like Grant? Maybe that's too easy, USF wants to do it the hard way. He knows how to build a program & he knows Florida players, so whats the problem

Really, we need to get this guy. Pelphrey would be a good consolation prize, but Grant would instantly turn us into winners.
