CLEARWATER

The contractor working to build two flyovers to move traffic on U.S. 19 has postponed a girder installation planned for this weekend at Sunset Point Road. Instead, the installation is tentatively rescheduled to start the weekend of March 31, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. During the installation, the northbound frontage road at U.S. 19 and Sunset Point Road will be closed to traffic late at night for three consecutive weekends while the main portion of U.S. 19 remains open. The construction is part of a $45.9-million project to improve 1.5 miles of U.S. 19 from north of the CSX railroad tracks to north of Sunset Point Road.
