Chasco music is free for the listening

Okay, you have to pay for one concert, but you'll be under the stars in Sims Park.

NEW PORT RICHEY - Among the most enjoyable and popular parts of Chasco Fiesta are the nightly music shows in the amphitheater in Sims Park.

Each night has a theme, and, except for the Chasco Country Concert on March 31 ($15 to $30), all of the shows are free.

6-11 p.m. today: Rhythm & Bluesmasters. Headliner is recording artist and native Texan Chris Duarte, whose blues-rock music is hard-driving and intense. Opening are Julie Black, Willie Lomax/Shawn Brown Blues Revue and bay area favorite Damon Fowler.

4-11 p.m. Saturday: Headliner is the 1970s London blues-based boogie band Foghat (Slow Ride, Stone Blue, Third-Time Lucky); opening acts are the Wholigans (the Who tribute band), Knight Sounds classic rock, and Voodoo Child, a Jimi Hendrix tribute group.

11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday: Talent Showcase with winners of the SBray Productions talent search.

5:30-9 p.m. Sunday: Magical Night of Disney. Headliner is singer/musician Cisum Golden, who sings in the style of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and others; opening acts are the girl group MYXX, recording artist Katelyn Tarver, Urban African ballet group Dondu Dole, and singers Ada, Exenia, SoulJah, BRE, Malzee and Tre.

6-10 p.m. Monday: Bluegrass Music. Headliner is the Larry Gillis Band, with Gillis playing banjo in the tradition of Ralph Stanley; lead singer is Stan Wilemon. Opening is the Bluegrass Parlor Band, the mostly teen successors to the band that formed two decades ago at Tampa's Bluegrass Parlor.

6-10 p.m. Tuesday: The Dan McMillion Jazz Orchestra plays as contestants vie for honors in the dance contest.

6-10 p.m. Wednesday: Noche Latina (Latin Night). Headliners are Sol Caribe, a seven-piece conjunto band that plays merengue, cha-cha, bolero and Latin jazz. Opening acts are Mariachi Invasor De Mexico and the Point 6 Latin band that pays tribute to Santana.

6-11 p.m. Thursday: True Oldies starring Joey Dee & The Starliters (Peppermint Twist, What Kind of Love Is This?, Shout) with Tommy Mara and the Legends of Doo Wop (Sixteen Candles, Cara Mia).

6-11 p.m. March 30: Contemporary Christian Family Night. Headliners are 2007 Grammy nominee Ayiesha Woods (Big Enough, Happy) and 33 Miles, with the country sound of Rascal Flatts. Opening are Carrie Pettit and Group 1 Crew.

5:45 p.m. March 31: Chasco Country Concert with headliners Rodney Atkins (If You're Going Through Hell) and Darryl Worley (Have You Forgotten?); opening is Wiley Fox. Tickets are $15-$30, available at the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce, online at TicketLeap ($25 Golden Circle only) or at the gate.

2-5 p.m. April 1: Jimmy Q & the Serenaders with Don Bailey, vocalist.
