INVERNESS - There's a new doctor's office on Courthouse Square, and it serves dessert. The Ice Cream Doctor is a newly opened ice cream parlor at 106 N Pine Ave., across the street from the Inverness Government Center. With its medical office decor, the Ice Cream Doctor takes care of your sweet tooth with about 30 flavors of Hershey's ice cream. Specialties include shakes, splits, brownies and malts, but you can also get a hot dog here. Owner Donna DeHart said she came up with the theme Ice Cream Doctor after playing around with the initials of some relatives' names. To complete the theme, servers wear white medical smocks and latex gloves. Samples are served on wooden tongue depressors. "It's an original concept, not a franchise," she said. The parlor has seating for about 30 people. A separate dining area, "the Recovery Room," can be used for birthday parties. The Ice Cream Doctor Where: 106 N Pine Ave., Inverness Hours: noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Call: 341-4237.
