Oldsmar Days and Nights: The 10-day Oldsmar Days and Nights Festival winds down at R.E. Olds Park. Sounds of the Grateful Dead as played by tribute band Uncle John's Band will kick off the weekend festival at 5 p.m. today at the park, 107 Shore Drive W.
The city's only parade of the year starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at the corner of State Street and St. Petersburg Drive with more than 100 participants. A classic car show featuring only Oldsmobiles and live music starting at noon also are planned.
The festivities conclude Sunday with Wing Wars, an event tempting the daring to try the hottest sauces by area restaurants. More live music is planned for the day including Bill Wharton & the Ingredients blend of music and food.
Wharton, known as the "Sauce Boss," creates a gumbo on stage and then shares the soup with the audience at the end of the show. Classic cars built before 1975 will be on display. Call 813 855-4233.
Masque Community Theatre: The Masque Community Theatre, 8825 N 56th St., will hold auditions for One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest at 7 p.m. April 4-5.
Monologues are requested, but not required. There will be cold readings from the script. Production dates are June 8-10, 15-17 and 22-24. Call (813) 852-1909.
Carrollwood Players: The theater group is seeking scripts for its annual One-Act Weekend. The plays must be original and require minimal sets, props and costumes.
Submissions should be postmarked no later than May 1 and be sent to P.O. Box 270116, Tampa, FL 33688. A $10 entry fee is required. Include street address, telephone number and e-mail address.
The Players will hold open auditions for the comedy Don Juan in Chicago, 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9:30 p.m. Monday at the Carrollwood Playhouse, 4333 Gunn Highway.
They are looking for five men 20-80 years old and three women 20-40 years old. Short comedic monologues are encouraged but not required. There will be cold readings from the script. Show dates are May 25 through June 16.
They are also looking for backstage personnel, including set painters, stage crew, costume, prop, and lighting people. Call (813) 265-4000.
Anne Frank play: The Tampa Jewish Community Center will present the teen production of Anne Frank and Me 4-6 p.m. April 25 and 26 at the center, 13009 Community Campus Drive. Call (813) 769-4723.
Local art: Artwork from Tampa-based artist Terry Klaaren will be on display at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4800 E Fowler Ave., through May.
Paintings of unpaved roads and their surroundings, called Cycle Paths, will be on display in the second floor planetarium hall gallery, and postcards and prints will be available in the gift shop. Call (813) 987-6300.
Drawing sessions: USF is holding drawing sessions with nude models from 7-9 p.m. Sundays, beginning Sunday. The sessions will be in Room 291 of the Fine Arts building and will cost $3 for students and $5 for nonstudents. Call (813) 974-2011.
