Science Center needs gift store volunteers

The Science Center of Pinellas County, 7701 22nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, is looking for volunteers to work in the gift store. Volunteers fill store orders from schoolchildren who are visiting the center on field trips. The center also needs administrative help for the front office. Sign up to step into fun in 5K and family run

Applications are available for the 2007 Harvey's 5K Race and One-Mile Fun Run. The event will be April 13 along the St. Petersburg waterfront. A 1-mile family run will begin at 6 p.m. and the 5K run at 6:30, both from the north end of North Straub Park. Registration and check-in will begin at 4 p.m. The cost is $15 in advance and $20 on race day. SPCA course teaches you how to train dogs

Calling all animal lovers who have dreamed of becoming dog trainers, here's your chance. The SPCA of Tampa Bay is in need of 30 dedicated volunteers for its Family Dog Training Program. Learn methods implemented by some of the top trainers in the nation, at no monetary cost. An intense, six-week, hands-on course will begin April 16, followed by a commitment of volunteer hours. Trained volunteers will make a difference by building a foundation of good behavior for homeless pets and assist in behavior classes for the public. Register by April 6.
