CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SETS 2 OPEN HOUSES

Hernando Christian Academy, 7200 Emerson Road, Brooksville, has an open house and tour at 7 p.m. April 12 and again at 10 a.m. April 28 for parents of prospective students. Children are welcome. Rodeo tickets are kids' writing prize

The Hernando County Fair Association is giving away 30 AutoWay IPRA Championship Rodeo tickets to elementary school children. The Fair Association is asking children to write a paragraph on the theme "What the American Flag Means To Me." A committee will select 30 winners who will attend a special national anthem presentation at the rodeo on April 20, 21 or 22 at the Hernando County Fair and Youth Livestock Show. Submissions should be sent to Hernando County Fair Rodeo Committee, P.O. Box 10456, Brooksville, FL 34603. They can be dropped off at the fair office, 6436 Broad St., Brooksville, or e-mailed to info@hernandocountyfair.com Include student's name, age and a telephone number.

Sale will benefit Cancer Society

West Hernando Middle School will have a yard sale to benefit the American Cancer Society. It's open 8 a.m. to noon April 14. Food is available. Rent a table for $10, or two tables for $17. Set up will be the day before (April 13 from 3 to 5:30 p.m). Contact Kristen Tomczak at 686-1225 to donate items, reserve a table or to get more information.

Powell Middle will go to science bowl

Powell Middle School has been invited to participate in the Florida Regional Middle School Science Bowl on April 7 at the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa. Powell's team also participated last year.

Math program will combine food, fun

Deltona Elementary has an Edible Math at 6:30 tonight. Participants will use a variety of readily available foods to illustrate math principals and concepts.

Workshop helps parents with teens

Pine Grove will honor volunteers

Pine Grove's PTA/School Outstanding Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast is at 9 a.m. Friday in the cafeteria.

Festival for student artists

Hernando County students are invited to participate in the Hernando County Fine Art Council's 23rd annual Art, Craft and Music Festival, which will be May 5-6 at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville. Opportunities are available for students from elementary through high school. Cash prizes will be awarded.
