Feeling a need for speed? BUCKLE UP
The weekend is all about speed, in the sky and on the street. In St. Petersburg, the Honda Grand Prix brings IndyCar racing to the streets on the downtown waterfront today through Sunday. Gates open at 8 a.m. daily with practice and qualifying today. The main race Saturday is the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg at 5:05 p.m., followed by a concert by Los Lobos inside the race circuit. The concert is included in race admission. The main event Sunday is the 100-lap Honda Indy St. Pete at 5:15 p.m., followed by a concert by Yellowcard. Daily admission starts at $25. (727) 898-4639. In Tampa, Airfest returns to MacDill Air Force Base after a year's hiatus. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the base; enter from S Dale Mabry Highway. Free. The Bay Area Renaissance Festival makes its final bow for the year this weekend. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fowler Avenue and N 46th Street, next to Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry. $15.95 adults, $7.95 kids, $12.95 seniors. The Chasco Fiesta finishes up another year's run along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River in downtown New Port Richey on Sunday. Highlights include the Native American Festival, a contemporary Christian music family night at 6 tonight, boat parade at 1 p.m. Saturday, a country concert with Darryl Worley and Rodney Atkins at 6 p.m. Saturday ($15-$25) and a big band showcase from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
