The saga of Matthew B. Cox and Rebecca M. Hauck, the couple who fled Tampa in 2003 and went on a cross-country white-collar crime spree, is scheduled to be featured on Dateline NBC tonight at 8 on WFLA-Ch. 8.
Cox, 37, a former mortgage broker, and Hauck, 35, a one-time Las Vegas legal secretary who became his fiancee, used stolen identities, forged documents and fake IDs to commit millions of dollars of mortgage fraud, according to federal investigators. Nicknamed "the Bonnie and Clyde of mortgage fraud," the couple rose to the top of the Secret Service's most-wanted list.
The St. Petersburg Times broke the story of Cox's exploits in December 2003 with "Dubious Deals," a report that examined property deals involving Cox and his Ybor City company, Urban Equity.
Cox was captured last November, masquerading as Joseph Carter, the owner of a home restoration business in Nashville. A babysitter's tip, relayed to the Times and then to the Secret Service, led to his arrest. To read more of the Times' coverage, go to links.tampabay.com.
A piece of 'Anatomy'
The Los Angeles Times says it has some details on the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. ABC and creator Shonda Rhimes have been hush-hush about the "enhanced" two-hour Grey's May episode that will introduce a new life for Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery (Kate Walsh), but the newspaper said this week it had uncovered some plot points: After her disastrous romantic misfortunes, Addison travels to Southern California to seek advice from old medical school pals Naomi (Merrin Dungey) and Jackson (Taye Diggs). Addison quickly learns that Jackson, has divorced Naomi. Addison meets the rest of the gang at the cooperative: a widowed alternative medicine doctor, a therapist and a male gynecologist who knows little about women. She concludes that though their personal lives may be a mess, professionally they stand out. So she decides to leave Seattle Grace and join the Oceanside Wellness Group team.
