One run and Seminole swipes a victory

LARGO - Seminole first baseman Kaycee Lisa probably won't be involved in too many base running instructional videos, but Monday night she played a big role in a 1-0 win over Osceola. Kasey Postupack led off the fourth inning with a single into leftfield and advanced to third when Lisa reached safely on an error. In an attempted steal situation, Lisa intentionally got caught in a rundown and in the process gave Postupack enough time to steal home for the only run of the game. "That's the first time it's worked," coach Mark DeRuzzo said. "We stole a run tonight. Everyone got to see how it works." Seminole (15-3) only had two hits to work with - both by Postupack - and was limited to just four base runners. Osceola (9-5) considered the defensive effort positive because the Warriors lost to the Warhawks by 10 runs the last time around. "I think we came out more prepared this game," said shortstop Kayla Shavers, who went 3-for-3 with two doubles. "We were just trying the get the outs and not think about them as much." Emily Crawford was the winning pitcher with a four-hitter and six strikeouts. Allison Shirley took the loss, but with a two-hitter. Of the 42 outs in the game, 25 were groundouts. Warriors third baseman Nicole Calderaro finished with six assists - all in the final three innings.
