What they're saying
"I think Stan will do an incredible job at USF. He has been a part of a lot of successful programs at various levels and has experience working with established teams as well as those he helped develop into winners. He has recruited some of the greatest players we have had at Michigan State and has always been around success. Stan's ability to recruit and coach and the outstanding people skills of he and his family will help to breed success at USF."
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, who Heath was an assistant for from 1997-2001, winning a national title in 2000.
"I have known Stan for a long time and admire him as both a person and coach. He has been successful everywhere he has been and will do an outstanding job at USF. He left the Arkansas program in good shape with a lot of young talent, and he can really coach. I am excited about the program's future at USF."
Former coach and Kentucky athletic director C.M. Newton, who helped USF with its search.
"My first question when he said USF was 'What league is that?' He said Big East, and I go 'UConn?' He said you've got those teams in there, but you've got beatable teams in there, and they take a lot of teams to the NCAA."
Heath's wife, Ramona, on her initial reaction when he told her about USF.
"People have commented about the facilities, but I have not met a kid that we've recruited that goes to a school because of facilities. They go to school to play for a coach. It's about relationships."
Ramona, on USF's perceived disadvantage because of its facilities.
