Man accused of lewd act at school

Police arrested a Tampa man on a warrant Tuesday morning, accusing him of taking off his pants in front of a middle school late last year, exposing himself as children were arriving. Bakari Hasani Brown of 4308 22nd St. faces a charge of lewd or lascivious exhibition, police say. He was arrested after police pulled over Brown's car Tuesday morning, said police spokeswoman Andrea Davis. Brown also faces a charge of violation of a restricted driver's license, jail records show. The school incident happened Nov. 3 when Brown, naked from the waist down, stood across the street from Ferrell Middle School, 4302 24th St., at 8 a.m., police say. A father and his 13-year-old son saw him and called police, Davis said.

Lakeland man dies trying to cross I-4

A Lakeland man who tried to walk across Interstate 4 Tuesday was killed when he was struck by a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Ramiro B. Espinoza was hit by a car driven by William M. Murphy, 21, of Lakeland, troopers say. The accident happened at 1 a.m., when Espinoza tried to walk across the eastbound lanes near the Bethlehem Road overpass, troopers say. No charges are expected.

ST. PETERSBURG

Bicyclist struck at intersection

A 59-year-old man who was struck by a pickup while riding a purple Schwinn bicycle Monday night died from his injuries, police said. The man, who has not been identified because his family has not been notified, was riding through a pedestrian crosswalk at Fourth Street N across 38th Avenue, police said. A beige pickup driven by Brett Norris, 24, of St. Petersburg struck the man as it turned left onto 38th Avenue. Police have not filed any charges but are still investigating.

PALM HARBOR

Cocaine use cited in fatal collision

A Palm Harbor man was arrested Monday on a charge that he was on cocaine when he caused a fatal head-on collision five months ago. Christopher Eckstein, 31, was charged with one count of manslaughter while driving under the influence in the death of Virginia Cantlon, 80, of Dunedin, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The accident occurred Nov. 6 on Tampa Road in Oldsmar.
