GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, MONTANA, JULY 2005 During our two-week vacation to Glacier, we hiked up to the continental divide at Logan Pass, which runs right through the park. It was a very warm day. We hiked through the snow up to Hidden Lake, which you can't see except from the top of the divide. As we got near the top, I looked back down the trail at the view and saw these Amish people. We lived in Ohio for 12 years, so we're used to seeing Amish people. They were wearing their usual clothes, the women in blue, the men in black, hiking through the snow. The snow was knee-deep in some places. At the top, we saw mountain goats and longhorn sheep. As we made our way back down, the Amish were still on their way up to the lake. The photo reminds me of the perseverance of the Amish people. In all walks of life, they persevere to reach whatever goal they're after. Branson Redding of Crystal River as told to Fred. W.
