Pizza event raises funds for garden

SPRING HILL

The Brooksville/Spring Hill Chapter of Compassionate Friends will have a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pizza Hut, 3003 Commercial Way. Celebrity servers will work for tips and donations, which will go toward the upkeep of the Compassionate Friends Memorial Garden, which is on the grounds of the Hernando Heritage Museum in Brooksville. Catch free Eastwood film

The Hernando County Public Library System will host a free showing of the Clint Eastwood film Flags of Our Fathers at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Spring Hill Branch/Harold G. Zopp Memorial Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive. The film is based on the bestselling book of the same name by James Bradley and Ron Powers, which tells the stories of the six men who raised the American flag in the famous photo at Iwo Jima during World War II. The movie is rated R. Refreshments will be served. For information, call 540-6391.

Activity centers seek members

Oak Hill Hospital's Spring Hill and Brooksville enrichment centers are recruiting members. The centers offer a variety of activities, including exercise, yoga, duplicate bridge, pinochle, Mexican train dominoes, quilting, clogging, line dancing, painting, Scrabble and Spanish lessons. The centers are also meeting places for support groups and clubs. The Spring Hill Enrichment Center is at 11375 Cortez Blvd. (behind Oak Hill Hospital); the Brooksville Enrichment Center is at 670 Broad St. For information, stop by one of the centers or call the Spring Hill center at 597-6331 or the Brooksville center at 544-5900.
