Police say man ran over victim several times

A Largo man was booked into the Orient Road Jail on an attempted first-degree murder charge after police said he intentionally ran someone over multiple times with a car. David Wayne Hall, 51, of 2098 Seminole Blvd., Apt. 113, remained in jail Sunday without bond. Tampa police arrested him north of downtown about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Hall "intentionally ran over the victim multiple times," a report said. The victim, who was not identified by police, was taken to Tampa General Hospital.


Tampa student survives crash

Two college students died and two others were injured when their car plunged off a cliff on a mountainous road, officials said Saturday. The students, who attend Florida State University's campus in Panama City, Panama, were heading for a camping trip Friday, according to an FSU news release. Joseph Rock of Panama, and Elizabeth von Heiland of Apple Valley, Calif., and Panama died, the release said. The school did not identify the injured students, but said they were from Tampa and Alaska. The Tampa student was in a study abroad program. Both were in stable condition Saturday.


Man arrested in theft of meat

A man suspected of stealing about $880 worth of meat was arrested Saturday by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Benito "Benny" Rodriquez Jr., 59, 3149 W Coredella St., Tampa, admitted to taking the items from three Sweetbay Markets, a sheriff's report said. He is jailed in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $5,300 bail.
