New supervisor has first elections today

PORT RICHEY - Pasco County's new supervisor of elections faces his first test today, when voters in three cities head to the polls: New Port Richey, Port Richey and Zephyrhills have council seats up for grabs. Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley replaced Kurt Browning, who is Florida's secretary of state. Fourth supercenter gains approval BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County's planning commission Monday recommended approval for the county's fourth Wal-Mart Supercenter. It would be built on Barclay Avenue in Spring Hill. The County Commission will consider the plan next month. Work to close lane of Bruce B. Downs TAMPA - Contractors building a new entrance to Interstate 75 plan to close one lane of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in each direction between 9 tonight and 5 a.m. Wednesday, the Florida Department of Transportation said. The $41-million flyover will allow southbound drivers on Bruce B. Downs to switch to I-75 southbound by exiting to the right, looping over the interstate, then entering it in a new right lane. Elsewhere SWIFTMUD OFFICIAL: Gov. Charlie Crist has reappointed Judith C. "Judy" Whitehead of Brooksville to the governing board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District. She was first appointed in 2003.
