Celebrity stylist opens salon on Central Avenue

Published April 11, 2007

Celebrity hairdresser Chad Malm last month opened Salon Jack at 5242 Central Ave., his second Tampa Bay location since moving from his native California. Malm has worked for celebrities and models and for magazines like Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Allure, and Modern Bride. Malm also has a Tampa salon at 3215 S. MacDill. For more, go to, or call the St. Petersburg store at 323-0112.

Grand opening set at completed condos

1010 Central will hold its grand opening 5:30-8 p.m. April 12. The 114-unit building that covers almost an entire city block between Central and First Avenue S was one of the last to enjoy the height of the real estate boom. When Miles Development opened sales in 2005, the building sold out in a month. Now that the four-story structure is complete, visitors can tour a model residence and meet neighbors. The complex also includes a retail unit at northwest corner and several work-live units that feature a residence above an included business storefront along Central.

Win your mom a complete makeover

Cameron Hair is holding its first Make My Mom Over contest. Essays explaining why Mom needs work must be submitted by May 4. First prize is a complete makeover: cut, color, perm, highlights, cosmetic makeover with gift bag from Estee Lauder, a clothing gift certificate at Dillard's, and a photo session at Enchanted Forest Studios. Two other prizes will be awarded. For more information, call the shop at 895-4400 or visit or the store at 406 11th Ave. N.
