Elections chief says process went smoothly

COUNTYWIDE Tuesday was Brian Corley's first big challenge as Pasco County's supervisor of elections. Other than heavy early afternoon showers, he said, the day went smoothly. "Things are going very well," he said Tuesday afternoon. For the first time, the county used electronic voter identification machines in the municipal precincts. The machines scan voters' drivers licenses to determine whether they are in Pasco's central database of registered voters and what precinct they should use. The process replaces the need for poll workers to flip through paper listings of registered voters, Corley said. He said the new machines were working well. "It beats the old system," he said.
