TAMPA - Clouds came in massive, thick clumps Tuesday afternoon and dumped huge amounts of rain on baseball fields and tracks throughout Hillsborough County. Around 3 p.m. coaches and athletic directors were postponing games left and right, including some key district contests: Class 6A, District 7 - Gaither (5-3 in the district) at Alonso (7-2); 5A-10 - Middleton (10-3) at Plant (11-2); Armwood (8-5) at Bloomingdale (11-2); 2A-11 - Shorecrest (8-2) at Tampa Prep (9-1). All those games are rescheduled for tonight at 7. The county track meet set for Tuesday afternoon at Gaither was moved to Friday at Gaither. "I walked out there and found our field completely under water," Plant baseball coach Dennis Braun said. "Our field doesn't drain too well so it was a pretty easy decision to postpone." Braun said the postponement would not have any effect on players' performances or strategies for tonight's games. "The only thing that concerns me at all is if it keeps raining through (Tuesday night)," Braun said. "If that happens then we'll most likely have to move the game back another day. That's the way our field is."
