Bucs open with a toughie
Mark your calendars, Bucs fans.
By STEPHEN F. HOLDER
Published April 12, 2007
TAMPA - Mark your calendars, Bucs fans.
Opening day is Sept. 9, when Tampa Bay kicks off the 2007 season on the road against NFC West champion Seattle.
That's just one of the highlights of the schedule released Wednesday by the NFL.
Tampa Bay is scheduled to make its Sunday Night Football debut when it travels to San Francisco for an NBC matchup Dec. 23, the team's second trip there in three years. However, that game is subject to change under provisions of the league's flexible scheduling, which permits adjustments to Sunday night games in weeks 11 through 17.
Other marquee games include a visit to the Super Bowl champion Colts on Oct. 7.
After that opening-week matchup in Seattle, things don't get much easier. Tampa Bay plays three division winners in the first five weeks. Among those is the home opener Sept. 16 against New Orleans at Raymond James Stadium.
One area the Bucs would like to improve is their performance out west.
"I know we're going to have a couple of West Coast games, and we've got to play better out west," linebacker Derrick Brooks said. "We haven't played that well out West since the Super Bowl, and that's going to be an emphasis."

The Bucs will be lucky to win 6 games this coming season. Sad, but true! Listen, and read, some of the sports figures. Not necessarily from the TB area, but elsewhere. The cry after the 4th loss will be 'wait until next year.'

Let's see what the draft holds for us before we make predictions, ok? One truly impact guy can flip the script for us and take us from Worst to First!

Seattle is tough, and even if we open with a loss, we will still win 4 or 5 games more than last year.

Who is Bill Couer? Is that the guy from the NFL films piece that works at Chick-Fil-A? He said he was a offensive "genius" too. Must be something with Mike and spelling. Guy at the bottom must think all the Bucs will be wearing XL shirts. "LOOSErs

Can I ask a stupid question? Why are Buc away games at cities that are relatively cool in Sept-Oct at 4:15 while home games in the heat here are at 1 PM? I'm an east side season ticket holder. Is this some kind of attempt to sweat us away?

It is always amazing to me how many people have this losing attitude even before the season begins. All this talk about Dungy's team really won the super bowl. But that team the bucs beat in the same game was Jon Gruden's former team.

Three Bucs fans are worth 100 Jag fans, so their attendance isn't an issue. That said, 10 wins. Let's Go Bucs!

I see another 4-12 season which is not neccessarily a bad thing for bucs fans. 4-12 should hasten Grudens departure at the end of the season. Hopefully, the Glazers are taking notice of the rumors that Bill Couer will be returning to coaching in 08'

The Bucs will be horrible. Garcia will be a bust. Simms will be starting by midseason. Cadillac will break down. We won't get Calvin Johnson. Where are the positives? Oh wait. Maybe Gruden/Allen get fired.

It is nice to see that the typical pessimistic Tampa Bay fair-weathered fans have already started to "chicken little" the season...and even before training camp begins. These are the same people who have no idea the Bucs used to wear orange.

I hope that all you fair weather fans are still griping if we start out strong. Please get off the Dungy scenario...it's getting really really old. Go move to Indianapolis!!!

He may not be able to spell loser, but Michael can understand that the Bucs cannot be successful with Gruden as coach. The offensive "genius" has been exposed for what he truly is...an average coach with a huge ego

No matter if the Bucs started off playing against the local last place little league team, they are still going to loose because they are, and always have been crap! As long as the great Gruden is still here they will ALWAYS be loosers.
