VOCABULARY LESSON: TEACHERS SHOULDN'T USE THIS WORD

With just five weeks left before schools ends in Pinellas County, people are starting to count the days - perhaps none more than the four teachers who recently snapped and used the same bad word in front of their students. Three middle school teachers and one high school teacher are being disciplined by the school district for using some form of the A-word in class. A sample: "Get off your a-- and find your own folder." The School Board voted Tuesday to give three of the teachers two-day, unpaid suspensions. The fourth is appealing her recommended three-day suspension.

Redner says he'll run for commission

Voters haven't seen the last of Joe Redner. Redner, a businessman and owner of Tampa's famous Mons Venus strip club, says he'll run for the Hillsborough County Commission in 2008. Redner has run unsuccessfully for public office six times, most recently in March when he got into a runoff with Tampa City Council Chairwoman Gwen Miller. "I'm going to run until I get elected or they change and start protecting our environment and working toward all the goals we should be working toward," Redner said. The environment, mass transit and controlled growth are Redner's top issues.
