BASEBALL Sam Donataccio, Hudson The Cobras have been mired in a dreadful season, but they managed their first victory after 15 straight losses to open the season by knocking off South Sumter 10-6. Donataccio, a senior centerfielder, played the biggest role - he was 3-for-3, scored three times, drove in three runs and was walked once. "He did what he always does," coach Vince Ferlita said. SOFTBALL Michelle McKonly, River Ridge The River Ridge junior enjoyed a solid three-game stretch where she went 7-for-12 including a double, a triple, three RBIs and five runs scored. McKonly is batting .570 and has a hit in all but two games. McKonly's efforts helped the Royal Knights to wins against Naples Lely (9-4), Palmetto Ranch (10-0) and Marion County (12-1). River Ridge is 19-4 on the season.
