Funeral today for 13-year-old killed in crash

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today for Shelby Hagman, 13, a Parrott Middle School student who died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident. The service is scheduled for the Land O'Lakes Church of God, 8337 Land O'Lakes Blvd. in Pasco County. The family asks that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Loyless Funeral Home in Land O'Lakes has an online guest book that can be signed at www.loylessfuneralhome. com. Florida Highway Patrol reports show Shelby's grandparents' minivan was hit by a pickup truck at Sherman Hills Boulevard and Park Ridge Drive in Ridge Manor West. The accident is under investigation. BROOKSVILLE Democrat joins District 5 race Democrat Herman Unclebach Jr., a resident of eastern Hernando County, filed this week to run for County Commission in District 5 in 2008. The only other announced candidate is Republican James Adkins. The seat is currently held by Democrat Chris Kingsley. Unclebach could not be reached for comment. COUNTYWIDE Deadline today for plant show entries Today is the deadline to enter plants in the Horticulture Show at the Hernando County Fair. Entries will only be accepted between 1 and 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. Other entries of Family Living exhibits must be submitted between 1 and 7 p.m. today or Friday at the Henry Jackson Family Living Exhibit Hall.
