ST. PETERSBURG - Charles Wilson, a 20-year-old accused of murdering the teenaged mother of his infant son, was arrested Thursday morning in a room at the Bay Breeze Motel.

After getting an anonymous tip about his location, St. Petersburg police and the U.S. Marshal's Office found Wilson in a room at the motel, at 3900 34th St. S. Detective Lorry Dunn said police seized a handgun from Wilson, and that he surrendered without incident.

Wilson faces one charge of first-degree murder, in addition to numerous other charges mostly related to violating probation. He has a lengthy criminal record.

Police say Wilson broke into his 17-year-old girlfriend Ediesha Daniel's house at 4102 12th Avenue S Wednesday morning and shot her several times after an argument. The shooting took place just a block from Childs Park.
Ediesha is the mother of Wilson's two-month-old baby boy Charles Wilson, Jr., who other family members now will care for. She had left Gibbs High after getting pregnant and planned to get her GED.

Ediesha's family was pleased with the arrest. Many were outraged Wednesday after learning of the killing, and some even came into town to search for Wilson.

"I'm glad they caught him because if they didn't get him off the streets something would have happened to him," said Latrice McKinnon, 24, Ediesha's cousin. "I wish he was dead but I'll let God take care of that. He has to answer to God."

Wilson, who has his son's name tattooed on his left forearm and "Disha" tattooed on his right forearm, had been arguing with his girlfriend recently over their son.

Last week, he punched her in the face after another argument, and left the house as family members called police.

McKinnon said her cousin Ediesha was sick of Wilson.

"She didn't want to be with him anymore," she said.

I keep asking myself what are we as parents doing wrong. Why are we allowing all these older men to date our daughters? Let's face it the only reason why these older men want a young girl is because they want to control them. stop the madness!
