Wagner's opera 'Das Rheingold' will be performed in English at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday and April 29 at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St., Tarpon Springs. Das Rheingold is the first of four parts of The Ring of the Nibelung. Tickets are $16. Call (727) 942-5605.
The Jacaranda Poetry Festival and Awards will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Pasco Arts Council, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. Some 113 poems were entered in the first festival competition, and winners will be announced sometime during the afternoon. Performance poet Stazja McFadyen will read some of the entries. Other poets will read their own or others' entries.
The Thursday Musicale women's chorus will present singers John and Mary K. Wilson at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Living Word Church, 5151 Rowan Rd., New Port Richey. Tickets are $5; call (727) 841-7631 or 847-5920. Tickets are also available at the door.
