Danielle Kurant, of Temple Terrace, daughter of Jill and Dan Kurant, of Kenneth City, was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society at the University of South Florida. Kurant is a sophomore studying biomedical science at USF, where she has been accepted into the seven-year USF Honors Medical Program; the USF Research Scholars Program; and the College of Arts and Science Honor Society. She has been awarded numerous scholarships including: the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, the Valedictorian Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship, the Honors College Scholarship, and the Seide Scholarship, all from USF. Kurant is also a member of the Christian Medical & Dental Association; the Baptist Collegiate Ministries; and is the pianist for the music group The Ties That Bind, who perform for free at local coffee shops. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society; the Benjamin Hope Lodge; and aided with Project NOAH in New Orleans over spring break. Kurant plans to pursue a career as a physician in either immunology or pediatric gastroenterology. Brandie Marie Becker, daughter of Debbie and Don Becker, of St. Petersburg, will graduate with honors from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science in May. She is a member of the dean's list of scholars, the Arts & Sciences Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honor Society. Becker is a 2003 graduate of Shorecrest Preparatory School. Lauren Ree Slone Quattro, of Morgantown, W. Va., daughter of Howard and Dorothy Slone, of Seminole, graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in Morgantown with a bachelor's degree in religious studies. She received a full-tuition scholarship toward the completion of her master's degree at the University of Chicago's Divinity School and was named one of the West Virginia University Foundation's top 30 outstanding seniors. Quattro was a member of the Northern West Virginia Dance Council, the Morgantown Dance Studio, the Mortarboard Senior Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. In her spare time, Quattro was a choreographer for the National Dance Association's Annual Gold Festival in Baltimore and was a guest artist and choreographer at Frostburg State University's spring dance concert. Also a 2000 graduate of Gibbs High School, she is now a project assistant and artistic director for the Alchemy Dance Company and a member of the ballet faculty at the Morgantown Dance Studio. Quattro would like to work as a professor of religious studies or in fine arts and dance. Brianne L. Kucerik, of Washington, D.C., daughter of Janet and Donald Kucerik, of Seminole, graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, Juris Doctorate. In 2001, she graduated cum laude from Duke University with her bachelor's degree. Following her graduation from Duke, Kucerik worked as a paralegal in the Outstanding Scholars Program for the Department of Justice, Antitrust Division until 2003. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School and its IB program in 1997, where she was class valedictorian. Kucerik is a member of the Florida Bar and is an associate for the law firm of Weil, Gotshal, and Manges in Washington, D.C.
