Women's club to give service awards tonight

The Palm Harbor Women's Club will present the "Making a Difference" grants and scholarships award reception and ceremony at 7 p.m. today at Harbor Hall, White Chapel Complex, 1190 Georgia Ave. The club will award $11,000, in amounts of up to $1,000 each, to nonprofit groups that have demonstrated charitable service in the community. Apply for language program by Friday
Friday is the application deadline for high school students who want to participate in Eckerd College's annual summer language immersion program from June 18 to 22. The program provides students with experience using the language in real-life communication. Students entering grades 9-12 who have studied Spanish or French for at least two years are eligible. The cost of the noncredit program, including room and board, is $350. Students will arrive on campus June 18, stay in dorms, eat their meals in the cafeteria and attend classes. Meeting of Women in Philanthropy
Morton Plant Mease gynecologic oncologist Hector Arango will talk at the Women in Philanthropy meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Safety Harbor Spa, 105 N Bayshore Drive. The group has a membership of more than 180 women working to improve the health care of the community and meets three times a year.
