Father charged in death of infant son

WINTER HAVEN - Determined to quiet his 10-week-old son, Desmond Justin Murray stuffed a washcloth in the child's mouth and used masking tape to secure it, according to police. Daidon Murray suffocated silently. On Thursday, nearly two months after the baby died, Desmond Murray, 24, was indicted by a Polk County grand jury. He was held without bail in the South County Jail in Frostproof on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse. An autopsy concluded the 9-pound infant died from asphyxia and had other injuries, including broken ribs and a bruise on his head. "It's as bad a case as I've ever seen," Winter Haven police Chief Mark LeVine said.

Have known Desmond since birth..I am shocked over this horrific crime..Firmly believe the mother is just
as guilty,her duty is to PROTECT her child..They both deserve no forgiveness..
My heart is with the innocent baby!!!

I have known Desmond since grade school, It makes me sick to know that I once considered him a close friend. The mother should be charged as well, it is your JOB to protect your children, and she let this happen. They both deserve to rot!

I knew desmond when he was in school i cant belive he did that i guess you really never know someone he should be put to death very painfully if he was that up set about the baby crying he sould have just walked away to calm down

I guess he was never a child..too bad his momma didn't do that to him..too many of these stories anymore, very sad if you can't take the heat use birth control or better yet get the parents sterilized!! Don't worry he will get his in jail...

I never thought desmond would be capable of doing something this horrible. All i keep saying is "why?". He asked my brother to be the godfather. Daedon never got the chance to be loved by others who loved him. justice will prevail

I am still in shock that he did this I went to school with him and used to be good friends with him. He used to be such a good person what happened, how could he do this?

This isn't the first time he has done something henious! He just has never done something to this degree! Desmond makes me sick! He should have never been aloud around children! He wasn't even alone with the baby, the mom was there!!

another example of an innocent life taken away from someone who should not
of been left alone with a child. so many
dead children,some many who want one that can't have one,give them up if your
not ready....take a break,walk away.
