Deputies kill 1 bank robber, wound another

Published April 28, 2007

LAKE WORTH - Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies fatally shot a bank robber Friday and wounded a second, authorities said.

Joshua Beasley, 25, and his 23-year-old brother, Brandon Beasley, stormed into a Washington Mutual branch, sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller said. At least one of the men carried an assault-type rifle, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.

The robbers took off with an undisclosed amount of money, leading police on a chase. Their vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant and the brothers from Fort Lauderdale fled on foot.

Joshua Beasley was fatally shot, Miller said. Brandon Beasley was taken to Delray Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

It was not immediately clear who fired first or how many shots were fired, authorities said. No one inside the bank was injured.
