SEMINOLE - Seminole freshman pitcher Emily Crawford and the Warhawks caught Palm Harbor University on the wrong night:

Prom night.

The Hurricanes, hustling so many could make the dance, made quick work of Seminole.

The win puts PHU (23-4) in its first region final since 2005, when it won the national title.

"We just wanted to get it over fast so the seniors could go, " PHU freshman Maddie O'Brien said. "They've worked so hard."

O'Brien (3-for-3, 4 RBIs), who was a homer short of the cycle, started with a two-run triple in the first. The Hurricanes batted around in the first three innings, scoring five runs apiece. Senior Elysha Agen hit three singles; Jacquelyn Katchuk two doubles.

But Seminole (21-4), making its first region semifinal appearance since 1998, battled back, loading the bases in the third.

That's when PHU sophomore leftfielder Mariah Weingarten turned a spectacular diving catch in the left-center gap into an inning-ending double play.

Said Seminole junior Kaci Huneke: "They came at us like a ton of bricks."
