RIGHT FIT OR WRONG FIT? ONLY TIME WILL TELL
Barry Cohen is a high-powered lawyer who has battled such bastions of power as the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Everett Rice is a former Pinellas County sheriff - and Cohen's newest colleague. Rice, a lawyer and former state representative, said he's going to work for Cohen, Jayson & Foster. An odd couple? Not to Rice, who said "the highest form of lawyering" is when an attorney can "stand between some poor citizen and the awesome power of the government or the awesome power of a corporation, and Barry does it best." And Cohen says of Rice: "He's got a tremendous sense of right and wrong."
There's a right way to throw a mullet
If you happen to be near the Florida-Alabama line this weekend, watch for flying mullet. It's the 23rd annual Flora-Bama Interstate Mullet Toss, Saturday and Sunday. As the Pensacola News-Journal describes it: "You'll take your place in a 10-foot circle on the Alabama side of the Florida state line, and toss your 1-pound dead fish across the line into Florida." The newspaper also offered some expert advice from Smokey Macdonald, described as a longtime mullet tosser: "Open the mullet's mouth, stick your finger under the bottom lip and come over the top with your throw. By following this method, the fish will fly like a kite. Also, you've got to catch the wind, and if that don't work then just sling it by the tail." Or you can just watch. And yes, adult beverages are involved. The Flora-Bama, after all, is a famous bar straddling the state line.
It's one dog fight for the record book
Paulette Keller's chihuahua, Brandy, is recognized as the smallest in the world. The Largo dog was even on Oprah on Wednesday with the world's largest dog. But now a Leesburg woman is touting her chihuahua, Dancer, as the world's smallest. How so? Depends on how you measure it. Brandy is smallest in length (6 inches), according to Guinness World Records. Dancer may be the world's smallest in height, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Dancer stands about 4 inches, paw to shoulder. But Dancer can't claim its crown until June 8, when it turns 1. "Then we're planning to throw him a birthday party, measure him officially and get him into the Guinness records as the smallest living dog, " owner Jenny Gomes said.
