Paperwork is all that is left.

Keith Glasgow's outstanding scores in the St. Petersburg Bowling Association's 70th annual City Tournament of Champions two weekends ago at Liberty are sitting on a table somewhere in Milwaukee, waiting for a big stamp of approval from the U.S. Bowling Congress.

It turns out, after Glasgow, a native of St. Petersburg, went 816 in three games of singles scratch and 846 in three games in doubles with partner Charles Bush, his six-game total is a national USBC record. With 1, 662 pins, Glasgow edged Dennis Sullivan's record of 1, 659 pins set in Denver on Aug. 10, 1995.

"Right now I'm on a roll, " Glasgow, 50, said Thursday afternoon. "Its funny because I went to Vegas the week before and I couldn't get anything going. Usually when you come back you can't do anything for an entire week. But this time it all felt in synch."

Deciding to play the City Tournament the day it started, Glasgow, an SPBA Hall of Famer, made a few calls and got there just in time. Alongside his record-breaking six games, Glasgow may have set five-, eight- and nine-game records as well, and won scratch doubles with Bush and all events scratch with 2, 395 pins in all.

"I just went and bowled it, " said Glasgow, also a member of the Softball Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio, after doubling as a pro player and St. Petersburg Police sergeant in his earlier years. "It's always enjoyable when you score like that, but I did not expect it."

SPBA manager and local bowling icon Bill Zuben, who drilled both of the balls Glasgow used, said he has been in contact with the USBC Records Office and is awaiting the application process.

Tom Milton had the only 300, helping him to 780 for a second-place finish in scratch singles. The only lead change from the first weekend was in handicap singles as Ed Winkowski's 839 topped Glasgow's 816. Final results of the City Tournament are at spbafl.org.
