Learning to appreciate telework
With gas prices soaring, we can only assume that interest in working from home is, too. Telework Tampa Bay is holding sessions this week to expound on the merits of - you guessed it - telework, and to teach companies how to start or expand their work-from-home programs. The session for Pinellas employers will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council in Pinellas Park. The session for Hillsborough employers will be Friday at the Quorum Hotel in Tampa. The program is free, but registration is required by Tuesday. Call Jessica White at (727) 570-5151, ext. 38 to RSVP. More information is online at www.teleworktampabay.org.
Graham to speak to Emerge Florida
Emerge Florida, a statewide group for young professionals, is gearing up for its second annual convention, and this year's location makes the prospect even sweeter for bay area residents. The convention kicks off Thursday evening at the Ybor City Museum garden. Presentations on Friday and Saturday will be at the Embassy Suites in Tampa. Among the scheduled topics: Bob Graham, the former senator and governor, will speak on "Enlisting a New Generation." Cost is $170. Register at www.emergeflorida.org/annualmeeting.
Tech Forum will orientate you
Consider it Tech Networking 101. The Tampa Bay Technology Forum, a professional group for anyone involved in tech - be they investors, researchers or educators - is holding an orientation session on Thursday. Current and prospective members are welcome. The session with drinks and hors d'oeuvres will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Centre Club in Tampa. For more information, visit www.tbtf.org and click on "TBTF events."
