Why? The rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with Sony cells can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

What models? TravelMateTM Series beginning with 242x, 320x, 321x, 330x, 422x, 467x, 561x, C20x and AspireTM Series beginning with 556x, 560x, 567x, 930x, 941x, 980x.

Where sold? Electronics retailers.

What to do? Contact Acer for replacement battery. To continue to use the notebook computers safely, turn the system off, remove the battery and use the AC adapter and power cord to power the system.
