Today's Letters: Wal-Mart would add convenience

We don't need one more Wal-Mart April 11 letter to the editor

It is nice that Elizabeth Wood thinks "we" don't need another Wal-Mart Supercenter. Using "we" includes me, and I never told her I didn't need another Wal-Mart.

Frankly, I would like to see another Wal-Mart at the proposed location off Barclay Avenue. I am tired of driving 20 minutes to the one on Cortez Boulevard, where traffic is almost as bad as on U.S. 19.

Need is in the eye of the beholder. Are gated communities needed? Are multiple TVs needed in one house? Are cell phones needed? I don't think so, but it makes life nicer and more convenient.

Is another Wal-Mart needed? It definitely would create more jobs. For those who live in the vicinity of the Barclay site and south of Spring Hill Drive it would be less distance traveled, which equals less fuel used. I don't think that is a stupid idea.

Is another Wal-Mart needed? I don't know, but it sure would be convenient to have one closer to home.

Gerald Bruzdewicz, Spring Hill

Wal-Mart a threat to our lawns

We here in Hernando County are running short of water! Our lawn watering is restricted to watering only once a week.

Now, if another Wal-Mart moves in it will be using thousands of gallons of our water. We may be stopped from all lawn watering because of Wal-Mart use.

Keep Wal-Mart out of Spring Hill.

Fire district in voters' hands April 18 story

Be proud if you voted for Rocco

Thank you to Hernando County Commissioner Rose Rocco for seeing what the people wanted. When I voted for commissioner I supported Rocco in hopes we, the people of Spring Hill, would have an additional commissioner to talk for the people.

We are an informed, proactive body of people who know how they would like their tax dollars spent, and Rocco has proven she truly is a supporter of the district she answers to. I am proud to be one who voted for Rocco .

As you can see the strong body of voters in Spring Hill has historically voted out former commissioners and fire commissioners who were not supporting what people wanted. They had their own agenda and it was not to benefit us. When they ran for other political offices we did not support them. We will continue to support the politicians who are the voices of Spring Hill; I can trust we will not support the politicians who are against our best interests.

To Spring Hill and Hernando Fire Rescue employees: Continue to do the jobs you do so well. Hopefully, this distraction will go away and we can focus on how proud we are to have each and every one of you.

D. Fritz, Spring Hill

If you do not like Wal-Mart protest with your wallet. If there were not scores of people shopping daily in Wal-Mart stores, there would not be a need to build more. If you want to really impact something, act. Otherwise, you will be a hypocrite.

Can you come up with a more lame excuse? Water supply being depleted?? Get a grip. Walmart will win and everyone of those complaining will appreciate the gas you'll save and be right next to me in line! WELCOME WALMART-thanks for the jobs!

I agree don't include me in we cause I would love to have another walmart and Barclay would be perfect. I would love the shorter drive. The water shortage is going to happen with or without Walmart. Walmart gives a lot to our community. Go Walmart!

If Wal-mart would build a supercenter just south of SpringHill Drive on Anderson Snow it would be 100% more safer, traffic wise, then to build it north of Springhill Drive next to Publix. Other areas in Hernando County need a wall-mart. Not Barclay

Wal-Mart a threat to our lawns YOUR RIGHT F. Novak, Hernando does not need another Wal-Mart. The water supply is being depleted enough. No more Wal-Marts, no more new developments, even better yet. Lets send the last new 50,000 residents back home.
