What is the difference between jonquils and daffodils?

The American Daffodil Society says jonquils are characterized by several yellow flowers having a strong scent and rounded foliage. They have rushlike leaves that are grooved and long. Daffodils generally have six flat flower petals surrounding a central cup. Both jonquils and daffodils belong to the Narcissus genus of plants. According to the society's Web site, daffodilusa.org/daffodils/faq.html, it is correct to use "daffodil" or "narcissus" when referring to them.
