LAND O'LAKES

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating the near drowning of a 15-year-old boy Sunday. The teen apparently dove into a lake - the water was only about 4 feet deep - while at a gathering with family and friends. At first, the group thought he was "playing around" when he didn't resurface, according to the Sheriff's Office. But after about five minutes, he was pulled from the water. The boy was taken to University Community Hospital in Tampa. The Sheriff's Office did not have any information on his condition other than that he was unconscious while being transported from 4322 Libby Lane at 6:44 p.m.

PINELLAS PARK

Man's body found floating in pond

The body of a 52-year-old man was found floating facedown in a pond Sunday morning. The death appeared to be accidental, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department. His name was not released pending notification of relatives. The man was found about 10:45 a.m. in the 4300 block of 84th Avenue, authorities said. The case remained under investigation pending an autopsy by the Pinellas-Pasco County Medical Examiner's Office.

Man dies in failed bike trick attempt

A 22-year-old Davis Islands resident was killed Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle while trying to do a trick and crashed into a tree, according to Tampa police. Justin Ross Brannan of 627 E. Davis Blvd. was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle north on Davis Boulevard near Aegean Avenue when he tried to do a one-wheel stand and lost control, police said. He died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

LARGO

Weekend drug raid leads to 18 arrests

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrested 18 people on drug-related charges in the greater Ridgecrest area this weekend. Detectives began investigating the area April 1 after residents complained at a neighborhood association meeting about ongoing drug activity. As a result of that investigation, arrests were made Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Deputies were able to nab 18 of the 32 people they were seeking for drug-related activity. Ten other people were arrested on unrelated charges including warrants, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.
