Bookstore celebrates 1st anniversary

SPRING HILL
Friends of the Library of Hernando County will host the first year anniversary celebration of the Little Red Schoolhouse Bookstore from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the store, 1208 Kenlake Ave. Light refreshments will be served. Funds raised from the store benefit the Hernando County Public Library System. The bookstore is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Golfers will tee off to help church
A golf outing to benefit St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will be May 14 at World Woods Golf Club, 17590 Ponce de Leon Blvd. This will be a four-person team scramble. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $50 per golfer. Prizes will be awarded. All proceeds will benefit the church's outreach programs. Dinner-dance for Armed Forces Day
AMVETS Post 24 will host an Armed Forces Day dinner-dance May 19 at the post, 247 Hallcrest Ave. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. and will include roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and dessert. Dancing will be from 7 to 10 p.m. with music provided by Steve Daniels. The cost is $8 for dinner and dancing or $4 for dancing only.
