Lakewood moves on to state
Lakewood 19, Freedom 10.
By Bob Putnam
Published May 2, 2007
Lakewood's Kquanise Byrd, Innekia Reedy and Latesha Johnson have amassed individual numbers - as well as team success - that rank them among the best quarterback-running back-receiving tandems in the county. Few teams have been able to contend with the accuracy of Byrd, the quickness of Reedy and the elusiveness of Johnson. The Spartans used all of those weapons to beat Freedom 19-10 in a region play-in game. Byrd and Reedy each scored on runs to give Lakewood a 12-0 lead. Freedom cut the deficit to 12-10 before Byrd found Johnson on a 24-yard touchdown pass to put the game away. Lakewood will play in the state quarterfinals Friday in Boca Raton.
