Northside Christian's first playoff appearance since 2004 was not a memorable one.

The Mustangs fell behind early and lost 9-1 to host Fort Myers Evangelical Christian in the region quarterfinals.

Evangelical scored four runs in the first inning. That was all the support Sentinels starter Josiah Hicks needed. Hicks pitched four scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out six.

In the sixth inning, Northside's David Edwards walked, went to third on a single by JoJo Hess and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan McDonald.

"We just didn't play well (Tuesday), " Northside Christian coach Adam Moravick said. "We hit the ball, but it was right at people. It was hard because we got things going too late."
