Countryside's new coach is a familiar face.

Cougars assistant Myron Huey, 56, who boasts two decades of coaching experience at Kentucky and Indiana high schools, was tabbed Wednesday to replace his "very, very close friend" Bob Marinak.

Marinak was removed in February after leading Countryside to a 9-18 record; the Cougars finished 15-11 in 2005.

"The future here isn't bleak, " Huey said. "I think that's thanks to Coach Marinak. He's instilled work ethic in kids and has made it an easy transition."

Huey, a Murray State graduate, pledges to bring an up-tempo style, sparked by strong man-to-man defense. The Indiana native is an English teacher at the school, and his son, sophomore Alex Huey, played for the Cougars last season.
