13-year-old is charged in girl's attempted rape

A 13-year-old Brooksville boy was arrested Monday and charged with attempted rape, a felony, after he threw a 13-year-old female neighbor to the ground and began unbuttoning her pants, according to Brooksville police. Her sister heard the commotion, ran to the scene and pulled the boy off.

Cartful of stuff leads to charges of shoplifting

Hernando deputies arrested a 26-year-old Tampa man Monday on shoplifting charges at Target, 4401 Commercial Way in Spring Hill. Roderick O. Couch put 25 DVDs, 11 CDs, four toothbrushes and other products in a shopping cart and then went to the Starbucks at the front of the store to buy a drink, according to an arrest report. Couch then tried to leave the store but security officers stopped him, the report said.
