ZEPHYRHILLS - A suspect in two Zephyrhills robberies was arrested Wednesday in Tampa after he tried to rob a third store on Knight Griffin Road, according to reports from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
At about 8 a.m., a man who deputies believe is Sean Kuehner, 26, of Tampa, entered the CVS at 35440 State Road 54 and demanded money from the clerk, telling her he would shoot her if she did not cooperate, reports said. After she emptied the register, he fled on foot.
Around 8:20, deputies say, the same man demanded money from the clerk at the Circle K on 1449 State Road 39. He did not get any money, but was seen leaving a in a red Jeep Cherokee.
Kuehner was then seen around 9 a.m. at a Tampa Circle K, then was stopped by deputies at McIntosh and Campbell Branch Road.
Deputies said Kuehner's mother, Mary Kuehner, 52, was in the passenger seat with "visible methamphetamine" on her face. Sean Kuehner was charged with attempted strong arm robbery and driving with a suspended license.
Mary Kuehner was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Both were held Thursday in the Orient Road jail, Sean Kuehner on $1-million bail, and his mother on $1, 000.
