Adam Pegg, one of the county's top forwards, will not return to Palm Harbor University for his senior season.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound junior was assigned to Lakewood for next fall after applying through the county's school choice program.

Pegg put Clearwater, PHU and Pinellas Park as his top three choices, but since those schools were filled, he was assigned to Lakewood.

With Pegg filing for school choice, he surrendered his seat at PHU and cannot return next year. Pegg is on the waiting list for Clearwater, so if he is accepted during the first 10 days of school, he can choose to play for the Tornadoes. If not, he can stay at Lakewood or enroll in a private school.

Pegg declined to comment further on the decision to transfer. A Times' second-team all-county selection, Pegg averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds last season. He said he has received offers from Tennessee Tech, Delaware and Wofford, and received interest from St. Joseph's, Tulsa and the University of Nevada.
