For mother's day, dinners, dances and a tea party

The following events are scheduled for Mother's Day:
- Brooksville Elks Lodge hosts Mother's Day Dinner Dance, 4 to 8 p.m. May 13, 14494 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Tickets are $13 and must be purchased by today. Cocktails will be served from 4 to 5 p.m. The dinner entree is Swiss steak or chicken, which will be served at 5 p.m. There will be music for dancing from 5 to 8 p.m. All women attending will receive a long-stem carnation. - The St. Frances Cabrini Knights of Columbus host a Mother's Day dance, 7 to 11 p.m. May 12, Xavier Hall, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. Music will be provided by Southern Exposure. There will be snacks and cake and coffee. Those who attend may bring their own beverages. Door prizes will be awarded. Tickets are $8 and are available at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church's parish office, 683-9666; or call Randy Schreiber at 796-0618 or Frank Shillcock at 597-4517.
- Hernando Heritage Museum's ninth annual Mother's Day Tea, 4 to 6 p.m. May 12, 601 Museum Court, Brooksville. The theme will be "Victorian Potpourri." The mother-daughter event will include food and entertainment. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Call 799-0129 or 796-5398.
- The Latin American Civic and Cultural Association of Spring Hill hosts Mother's Day Dance, 8 p.m. to midnight May 12, SNPJ Hall, 13383 County Line Road. Music will be provided by DJ Cayuco. All women who attend will have a chance to be crowned Queen for a Night. Winners of the 2007 scholarships will be present. Tickets are $7 for members and $10 for nonmembers.
